Colt Technology Services has expanded its Internet On Demand service to ten new countries - the US, Canada, Australia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Luxembourg, Poland, Romania, Serbia and Slovakia - with increased bandwidth available at up to 10Gbps. Colt has expanded the service - available now in a total of 27 countries across Europe, Asia and North America - to meet rising demand from businesses needing flexibility and automation across their digital infrastructure, as they grow and extend into new markets. Internet On Demand customers in the UK and France can also benefit from a new, energy-saving virtual router (vRouter), with plans to extend its availability to other countries later in the year.

Colt launched On Demand, its Network as a Service solution, in 2017. In 2019 it launched the world’s first Internet On Demand service available at scale. Since then, the service has evolved to meet rapid growth in market demand, with businesses enjoying the ability to use digital infrastructure whenever they need it. The solution helps them to save money, cut down on unnecessary energy emissions and reduce risk. As organisations run a range of business-critical digital services across their IT networks including AI and collaboration applications, features such as real-time network connectivity and pay-as-you-go billing help them build in flex.

Since 2019 Colt has continued to innovate and expand its On Demand solution to meet the changing needs of its global customers. Colt’s virtual router has been specifically designed to help businesses reduce emissions and meet their sustainability targets. Unlike traditional physical routers positioned on a business’ premises, the vRouter is located in the cloud, saving energy and physical space. It delivers virtual network functionality on demand, across a fully automated, centralised platform.

Peter Coppens, VP Infrastructure and Connectivity solutions, Colt Technology Services said, “The way businesses and their employees consume and share applications has changed hugely, even since we launched Internet On Demand in 2019. Businesses navigating unpredictable, uncertain markets want to self-serve, they want to automate as many features as possible and they want to pay for only the bandwidth they use. Increasingly, they’re looking to overseas markets to generate new revenue streams. From an economic and an environmental perspective, our Internet On Demand solution fits all their needs, and we’re excited to bring it to even more countries”.

Colt’s recent survey of 755 IT leaders across countries in Europe and Asia highlighted continued take-up of On Demand connectivity, with 76% saying it is important and one in five (20%) say it’s absolutely essential to their business.
