Right of Boom joins forces with CIS and Antisyphon Training

Right of Boom, a cybersecurity community purpose built for managed service providers (MSPs) and managed security services provider (MSSPs), is partnering with the Center for Internet Security (CIS) and Antisyphon Training (a division of Black Hills Information Security) to launch a comprehensive, affordable course to help MSPs master the CIS Critical Security Controls (CIS Controls).

The CIS Controls Mastery Course for MSPs offers an exclusive way to demonstrate to existing and prospective customers that MSPs understand how to effectively implement cyber defenses against threat actors. The CIS Controls are a set of widely used defense best practices that can help businesses improve their cybersecurity posture. The CIS Controls Mastery for MSPs course represents substantial savings, making comprehensive security training accessible for CIS Controls Accreditation.

Right of Boom’s partnership with CIS and Antisyphon aims to help MSPs deliver The Controls at scale. More MSPs are adopting security frameworks, particularly as several states have passed “safe harbor” provisions providing protection in the event of a breach for companies that implement standards like CIS controls. As the threat landscape grows, customers are also looking for MSPs with cybersecurity expertise to help them proactively defend against cyberattacks.

The CIS Controls Mastery Course for MSPs consists of 300 modules, a lab component for demonstrating competence and understanding, and a 100-question test to receive a certificate of completion. The course also includes Antisyphon’s Core SOC Skills and Intro to Pen Testing, as these foundational principles are critical for MSPs to understand and implement.

“A key aspect of Right of Boom’s mission is to improve the security maturity and profitability of our MSP community — all at an accessible and affordable price,” said Andrew Morgan, founder of Right of Boom. “This comprehensive course is one of the requirements to achieve CIS Controls accreditation through CREST, which is the pinnacle of achievement for MSPs to show competence and mastery in the security industry.”

The course is being unveiled at the Right of Boom conference, which runs from Feb. 19 to 21, 2025 in Las Vegas.

“The partnership between CIS, Right of Boom and Antisyphon is the result of previous collaborations with MSPs to help them adopt the CIS Controls,” said Phyllis Lee, VP for Content Development at CIS. “Over the past five years, it has become apparent that there is a strong demand from MSPs to adopt the globally recognized CIS Controls.”

“This partnership aims to bring a unique level of resources to MSPs, from Discord channel support to monthly meetups,” said John Strand, founder of Antisyphon. “The collaboration between Antisyphon, CIS and Right of Boom provides all the tools that MSPs need to become adept at understanding CIS Controls. MSPs will have exclusive access to experts for specific security controls, policies and regulations.”

“The Antisyphon CIS online training platform delivers essential security knowledge with on-demand flexibility, at a fraction of traditional classroom costs,” said Eric Woodard, CEO of Protek Support. “The course stands out through its practical, real-world approach and direct insights from active MSP/MSSP security professionals, making it an ideal choice for IT professionals seeking to master and implement CIS controls.”
