Doug Imrie, Chief Operating Officer, Omnifone, said: “CDNetworks will enable us to accelerate the expansion of Omnifone’s cloud-based digital music platform, MusicStation, within the APAC region. The proliferation of smartphones in the region and the rising demand for subscription music services provide a huge opportunity for consumer electronics manufacturers, service providers and mobile operators. By increasing our global footprint, Omnifone is ideally placed to support these companies seeking to offer music services in new markets.”

Omnifone’s MusicStation platform offers 25 million tracks and is live in 34 countries including Japan. In 2012 Omnifone licensed and deployed Japan’s first ever global music subscription service with Sony’s Music Unlimited service.

Doug Imrie continued: “Before we made our decision, we ran several performance tests with CDNetworks and some of its competitors. CDNetworks’ technology was the fastest in terms of the time it took to play a track from the initial click of a button. It therefore enables us to ensure high speed content delivery to users via our customers.”

Jeff Kim, President and COO, Americas/EMEA at CDNetworks, said: “With 140 points of presence around the globe, including the emerging markets, CDNetworks offers web and media acceleration to customers at a global level. CDNetworks' Content Acceleration enables companies such as Omnifone to quickly and reliably deliver content from the cloud or centralised infrastructure to users around the world.”
