Pretium EDGE®AO solutions now support 40G BiDi Passive Optical Tapping

The new Pretium EDGE® BiDi Tap Module is an additional enhancement to the Corning Pretium EDGE® Advanced Optics (AO) solution for high-density data centre cabling infrastructures. It enables customers to provide passive optical tapping of networks that use Cisco’s new 40G BiDI transceiver for LC-Duplex connectivity.

The Corning solution provides the following benefits:
· Enables passive network monitoring without using active switch ports and doesn’t place additional strain on the performance of the network and switches
· Supports invisible monitoring for potential security threats, and enables identification of potential bottlenecks and performance issues in the data centre
· A non disruptive “zero-U,” fully pass-through passive tap device for reduced downtime and increased rack space utilisation
· Integrates into current Pretium EDGE® housings, supporting both LC and MTP connectivity

The Pretium EDGE® Tap Module offers a variety of design options to provide monitoring of high-speed connections for 1G, 10G, 40G networks, including the support of serial and parallel optics.

Plus a cabling infrastructure with Corning Pretium EDGE and ClearCurve Multimode Optical fibre cable supports 40G BiDi applications up to distances of 150m, providing greater flexibility in the design of your data centre.

Moreover, the entire Pretium EDGE® portfolio provides industry leading density, superior cable management and easy single-handed access to individual ports, as well as Universal Wiring that eliminates polarity management concerns.
