Emerson Network Power has been awarded the Datacentre Energy Efficiency Product of the Year at the 2015 DCS Awards in EMEA for its Liebert® EFC system. This product is equipped with the most advanced industry technology and uses a combination of indirect evaporative freecooling with an air-to-air heat exchanger.

Kevin Brady, vice president, thermal management, Emerson Network Power in EMEA said: “This accolade is a result of our determination to develop and bring to market the most energy efficient products possible. We’re therefore delighted to have been recognised for our continued innovation and market leadership. The Liebert EFC is part of our extensive portfolio and helps our customers address two critical concerns: reduce data centre carbon footprint while keeping operating costs to an absolute minimum.”

This award recognises Liebert EFC’s capacity to adapt to a number of internal and external conditions. Through the water evaporation process, the Liebert EFC is capable of achieving partial Power Usage Effectiveness (pPUE) levels of 1.03. This equates to an annual energy cost reduction of approximately €280,000 in comparison to a pPUE level of 1.3 for a 1 MW data centre.

The patented control logic, uniquely available from Emerson Network Power, also allows Liebert EFC units to change internal air volumes and temperatures according to specific server requirements, ensuring that no power is wasted. The dedicated iCOM™ Control also accurately analyses the most efficient balance between water and electricity which helps to further manage costs.

“The DCS Awards recognise product designers, manufacturers, suppliers and providers operating in the data centre field and are voted for by the readers of our wide range of print and online publications,” said Jason Holloway, director of IT Publishing at Angel Business Communications – the DCS Awards organisers. “All finalists did well in making the shortlist, but Emerson Network Power was the clear winner in its category: Datacentre Energy Efficiency Product of the Year.”

Emerson Network Power also received further recognition at this year’s DCS Awards, placing “runner-up” positions in two other awards, namely the Liebert AFC for the ‘Datacentre Cooling Product of the Year’ and the T-Systems project for the ‘Datacentre International Design/Build Supplier of the Year’ award.
