In early June Stanislas de Bentzmann, co-CEO and co-founder of IT consulting group, Devoteam, wrote a blog for the company website. Since then, it has been widely circulated in mainland Europe, where the company makes much of its €500 million-plus revenue. Despite that, he makes some interesting points of direct relevance to the way Cloud Services World sees the exploitation of IT developing. Argue away by all means……..

Cloud is the future of business, Platforms are the future of the cloud, and partnerships (rather than acquisitions or self-developed products) are the future of platforms. And while partnering with Netsuite was always on the cards, who would have thought Oracle would partner with Microsoft and Salesforce.com? But it has, and it makes you wonder what will be next. Still, it is service consumers that are likely to be the real beneficiaries.

Rackspace Hosting says that its recently acquired ObjectRocket Database as a Service (DBaaS) has entered into a strategic agreement with 10gen, the MongoDB company. Through this collaboration, Rackspace and 10gen will deliver the market’s first purpose-built cloud platform for MongoDB.
