Coraid announced on 28th February 2013, that it has contributed drivers for ATA-over-Ethernet (AoE) and its Coraid EtherCloud™ platform for software-defined storage to the OpenStack Cinder Block Storage project. The AoE driver enables storage access over connectionless, massively parallel 10 Gigabit Ethernet, providing superior performance compared to legacy storage networking. This driver will allow OpenStack-based clouds to integrate with Coraid’s EtherDrive® and EtherCloud platforms to deliver scalable, automated storage services. The demonstration will show how administrators can create classes of storage services, with different performance and availability characteristics, that enable one-click provisioning of volumes on demand.
The new drivers are available in the release of OpenStack codenamed Grizzly that was released on 4th April 2013.
