Computer 2000, the UK arm of Tech Data, is launching a major programme of sales and marketing activities to help resellers maximise their opportunities in the education market over the spring and summer peak buying period.

To coincide with the launch of the Focus on Education campaign, the company has also launched its new Virtual Classroom, an on-line interactive resource that enables resellers to explore the benefits of solutions and the options available in different areas of the classroom.

The approaching holidays are the one major opportunity that schools and colleges have to upgrade their systems each year. This summer, many schools are expected to refresh their laptop and desktop estates, deploy tablets in the classroom, update key learning tools such as interactive whiteboards and upgrade their wireless and wired networking equipment.

The Focus on Education initiative is being driven by the Computer 2000’s dedicated Public Sector team and will build on the success of the programme that the company ran last year during the peak buying period. Workshops and webinars are planned and a special Guide to the Education Market is being produced. There will be a lead generation campaign and resellers will also be offered support in building quotations and special bids alongside a series of exclusive offers from leading vendors.

Cathi Low, Director of Public Sector at Computer 2000, said: “Our campaign last year generated solid growth during the peak buying period and we plan to emulate and build on that success this year. There are multiple opportunities right across the sector – around upgrades, new wireless technologies and the latest interactive and infrastructure solutions. We’ll be aiming to drive new business for partners in all these areas, supporting them with special bids and quotations from key vendor partners.”

Resellers will also be given access to the innovative Virtual Classroom resource. “We wanted to give resellers an easy way to understand the benefits of different solutions – interactive whiteboards at the front of the classroom, touch-sensitive PCs and tablets that can be used by pupils in class, higher-performance wireless and infrastructure networking that deliver benefits right across the school or campus. Using the Virtual Classroom, resellers can see all of this and much more, and explore the different options they can offer from the excellent choice of products that we have in our portfolio.”

In addition, Computer 2000 has enhanced the information provided through its dedicated Public Sector microsite and on its InTouch online system to show the special education discounts currently available at both the quotation and ordering stages. It has also increased the visibility of add-on products that may appeal to education customers, giving resellers the opportunity to enhance the revenue and margin potential of every sale.
