Red Hat, Inc. has named a new vice president of Global Strategic Alliances. Scott Musson, previously of VMWare, will be responsible for Red Hat’s global alliance, system integrator and independent software vendor (ISV) relationships, and will manage Red Hat’s strategic relationships with HP, IBM, Dell and Cisco.

Red Hat’s rich channel and partner ecosystem helps organisations around the world navigate to the open hybrid cloud, manage operation of their datacentre and modernise applications. Under Musson’s leadership, Red Hat’s Global Strategic Alliances team will work to develop joint business plans with partners and develop assets around Red Hat technologies, helping to further Red Hat’s leadership in the technology industry.

Musson joins Red Hat from VMWare, where he most recently served as their senior director of Global Strategic Alliances responsible for developing and executing a strategic and technical alliance collaboration model, which leveraged key partner strengths and initiatives. Before joining VMWare, Musson established a proven track record as a leader with posts at other IT companies including NCR, HP and Dell.
