The company PoINT Software & Systems GmbH has announced the availability of PoINT Jukebox Manager 8.0. The software – designed as an intelligent middle ware – allows native file system access to optical jukeboxes. This applies for all available optical media formats, especially for the current 100 GB BDXL technology, which is gaining in importance in the field of professional archiving. The main focus of this new version is the support of the Windows operating systems Windows 8 and Windows Server 12. In addition this new version allows a prioritized finalization of storage media and their export from the jukebox at any time – even during the recording process.

The approved recording mode "Dynamic Image Recording“ implemented in PoINT Jukebox Manager protects the recording process against media- and hardware problems. This new version provides a command by which administrators can, even during the recording process, finalize the storage media fast and in a prioritized manner and export them out of the jukebox. Users working with the Blu-ray libraries of the DISC ArXtor series can import respectively export changeable media units (so called packs) online and administrate them offline. For the offline-racks of the manufacturer HIT the device presentation in the Admin GUI had been extended by additional structuring levels on basis of the “drawer” of the HIT offline-racks.
Furthermore PoINT Jukebox Manager 8.0 supports the file system format for optical media UDF 2.5 for re-writable BD-RE respectively UDF 2.6 for write once BD-R media. These also offer additional security mechanism like mirroring of meta data.

The upgrade for the new version is free of charge for users with a valid PoINT support contract and is available at the correspondent reseller.
