Cloud Edge builds on Huawei’s industry-leading SingleEPC solution for convergent Evolved Packet Core (EPC) operations, and encompasses capabilities for virtualized Evolved Packet Core (vEPC), virtualized Multi-Service Engine (vMSE), and Cloud Management and Orchestration (MANO).
Cloud Edge employs Cloud-oriented MBB network architecture to achieve automation of whole-network management. The solution leverages unique advancements in NFV to achieve the following benefits:
· Expanded MBB business opportunities
· Faster time-to-market (TTM) and scaling for innovative services, including M2M (machine-to-machine) applications, mobile video, mobile enterprise, and more
· Simplification of whole-network maintenance
· Reduced costs for whole-architecture network operations
· Enhanced whole-network resource utilization
Huawei is committed to providing its customers the benefits of Cloud Edge with a step-by-step approach that ensures carrier-grade reliability of virtualized network functions.

Cloud Edge is part of Huawei’s SoftCOM roadmap for introducing advances in Cloud, NFV, and Software-Defined Networking (SDN) technologies into the global telecoms market over the next ten years. SoftCOM provides a path for operators to leverage existing “hard” and “soft” assets (existing network infrastructure and core service capabilities) while continuing to implement “revolution-in-evolution” technology innovations cost-effectively as they are developed and become commercially available.

Huawei is a leading proponent of NFV standardization. The company is an active member of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute’s NFV Industry Specification Group (ETSI NFV ISG) and has submitted more than 280 contributions to the ISG.

Several top tier operators in Europe and in the Asia-Pacific region have conducted comprehensive and rigorous Cloud Edge trials that have demonstrated its leading architecture design and service innovation capabilities. Early use cases have included applications for M2M, MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator), and service chaining.

During the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2014, Huawei, in partnership with leading operators, will introduce further information about Cloud Edge’s capabilities for agile mobile telecoms operations that are helping Huawei and its customer build a better connected world.
