Fujitsu has appointed Tom Roche as Executive Director of its Technology Product Group (TPG). Roche takes up the role with immediate effect, reporting directly to Michael Keegan, who was recently appointed Head of Fujitsu UK & Ireland.

As Executive Director, Roche will have responsibility for overseeing and growing Fujitsu’s products businesses, which includes Fujitsu’s offerings from servers and storage, tablets, notebooks and desktop PCs and workstations, right through to its security products and the security services portfolio.

Roche will be responsible for ensuring the continuing growth of the company’s products business, a significant proportion of which will be sold through the channel. Fujitsu has seen huge channel sales growth since the company embarked on its strategic Channel Acceleration Programme three years ago, under the charge of predecessor, Michael Keegan. Fujitsu is set to announce its next phase of channel development, with a specific focus on the education and health markets, to its partners at its forthcoming event, Fujitsu World Tour next month. Roche will also be focussing on accelerating growth for Fujitsu’s security portfolio.

“I am excited about taking on this new challenge. Michael has done a fantastic job at building Fujitsu’s product and channel business in the UK and I look forward to continuing his legacy,” said Roche. “We’ll also be putting a real focus into our security business. With high-profile attacks reported continually in the media, it becomes clearer each day that that security threatens businesses of all types and sizes. As a result we’re seeing it creep further up the boardroom agenda – and need to be in the position where we can help protect end-users from the risks associated with it. Fujitsu has a solid product portfolio and best-in-class expertise, so together with our long-term, valued partners and the new ones who will soon be on board, we believe we are in a very strong position to help businesses protect against modern-day attacks.”

Tom has worked at Fujitsu for 15 years across both the public and private sectors – including roles in financial services and strategic alliances teams. For the past three years, Tom has held the position of Sales Director of Fujitsu’s public sector division.

“As a natural leader with strong experience across Fujitsu’s business, Tom has both the personality and experience to drive Fujitsu’s products business forward”, said Michael Keegan, head of Fujitsu UK & Ireland “As a Fujitsu stalwart who knows our business inside and out, he is perfectly placed to take this part of the business to the next level.”

Roche’s appointment forms part of a larger restructure for Fujitsu, promoting increased collaboration amongst business units as the company seeks to take advantage of growing globalisation in the ICT market. This has resulted in the creation of larger regions, all of whom report directly in to the Japanese headquarters.
