DataCentred, a leading provider of next-generation data centre and cloud computing services, is delighted to announce it has become a corporate sponsor of the OpenStack Foundation, the guiding organisation behind OpenStack.


The relationship is a demonstration of DataCentred’s long-term commitment to the collaborative development of open source cloud technologies and will enable the company to further develop its core competency and expertise in the OpenStack ecosystem.


DataCentred build and operate large-scale public and private cloud infrastructure powered by OpenStack. The company is headquartered in Manchester, UK, with customers in the academic research, higher education and broadcast industries. DataCentred’s systems are built around open source software and open standards, and the company is committed to fostering the development of the OpenStack ecosystem and wider open-source communities.


DataCentred is the first UK-based public and private cloud provider to support the OpenStack Foundation at the Corporate Sponsor level. It has established a team with significant technical expertise dedicated to deploying and operating OpenStack and related technologies at scale. This sponsorship is the first step in a longer term relationship, and the company plan to have engineers contributing code to OpenStack projects as the business grows.
