INTERXION HOLDING NV and City Network, a leading supplier of managed and cloud hosting services, today announced that City Network has extended its colocation data centre presence with Interxion in London and Frankfurt to further support the growth of City Cloud, its secure, scalable and redundant infrastructure service.

City Network’s portfolio of hosting, infrastructure and associated services are relied on by customers ranging from small businesses to Fortune 500 companies and government agencies. With multiple locations in Europe, their cloud service, City Cloud, is one of Europe’s leading Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) offerings.

Neutrality and a focus on quality were deciding factors for City Network in selecting Interxion’s European colocation facilities. “Building and operating data centres to consistently high standards in multiple locations is far from easy, but Interxion excels at this. Furthermore, by offering a carrier-neutral infrastructure, they increase flexibility and freedom of choice,” explains Johan Christenson, City Network’s CEO. “Interxion’s facilities throughout Europe meet internationally recognised standards, such as ISO 27001 for information security management systems and ISO 9001 for quality management, which were important factors for us.”

With a point of presence already with Interxion in Stockholm, City Network has further extended its reach by opening in London and Frankfurt. Future deployments in Paris and Madrid will be an important next phase. “Interxion’s broad European footprint supports our expansion plans and was among the key reasons for choosing Interxion as our colocation partner,” explains Christenson.

Additionally, both privacy and security are important aspects in City Network’s expansion decisions. City Cloud customers need to know where their data is — a critical aspect of meeting regulatory or corporate requirements on data residency. Interxion helps ensure that when a customer sets up a new server using the City Cloud web interface, they can specify where that server is, and guarantee that’s where the data will stay.

Jelle Frank van der Zwet, Marketing Manager Cloud at Interxion added, “With City Cloud already installed at our Stockholm data centre campus, we were able to help City Network easily scale, providing them with a wider European presence, while also meeting their customers’ data residency requirements.” City Network’s increased presence at the facilities further strengthens Interxion’s cloud community with improved connectivity and coverage.”
