Datapipe has added Michael Tobin, former CEO of TelecityGroup, to its Board of Directors. Tobin joins Datapipe’s board to help the company further its leadership position in the managed IT services industry. As a board member, Tobin will provide his expertise and thought leadership to help Datapipe continue its strategic expansion and growth.
“Michael comes to Datapipe with a deep knowledge and understanding of data centers, managed services, and the digital economy,” said Robb Allen, CEO of Datapipe. “We’re excited to have him here, and welcome his expertise and experience as we continue to enhance our solutions to meet the evolving demands of our enterprise clients.” Tobin led TelecityGroup for 12 years through a number of significant achievements in the company’s growth. This included a successful IPO in October 2007, and subsequent acquisitions and expansions into new strategic markets. Prior to TelecityGroup, Tobin ran Fujitsu’s e-Commerce operations in Germany. Throughout his career, Tobin has been instrumental in successfully managing and strategically expanding major companies.
“Datapipe continues to stand out in the industry for having world-class solutions for multi-cloud environments. Their commitment to solving customer problems and their drive to continuously innovate shines through as a competitive advantage,” said Tobin. “I look forward to helping Datapipe drive growth and profitability to further advance their leadership as the cloud industry continues to expand.”
Tobin’s business and thought leadership have been widely recognized. In 2014, he was honored in the Queen’s New Year’s Honors List with the Order of the British Empire medal for Services to the Digital Economy. In 2011, he received a Lifetime Achievement Award for contributions to the Data Center Industry at the Data Center Europe Awards. In 2010, he was named ‘UK IT Services Entrepreneur of the Year’ by Ernst and Young, and 'Business Person of the Year’ for the second year running by the London Chamber of Commerce. Tobin’s appointment brings Datapipe’s board of directors to eight.
