The gas turbine manufacturers and turbine components supplier has been at the forefront of the industry for more than 65 years and has been based in Newton Abbot since 1955.

Centrax will take delivery of its new telephone system this summer to serve the needs of its 700-plus employees and to link its multiple plants and workshops at its Newton Abbot site, and to begin enjoying the efficiencies created by unified communications.

The ShoreTel Unified Communications solution will provide advanced telephony functionality to more than 650 users on site as well as integrating its 100 global mobile users via a Smartphone app to eliminate expensive overseas roaming charges while still giving them access to the functions of the telephone system. In addition, IP phones will be deployed at Centrax’s 10 overseas depots throughout Europe, Russia, North Africa and the Middle East.

Nick Sanderson, of Centrax, said: “Our existing telephone system has become outdated and both expensive and difficult to support. We needed a modern IP replacement that will accommodate the two divisions of the company while encompassing the size of our site, number of employees, overseas sites and mobile workers.

“From the very start of our search, we had added a ShoreTel solution to our shortlist because of its advanced features, guaranteed lowest total cost of ownership and the business benefits that remote office and mobile integration would provide.

“We chose South West Communications Group because they had expertise in ShoreTel IP telephony products, could install and integrate our solution with our existing data infrastructure, and then provide ongoing support.”

Sarah Flowers, South West Communications Group’s sales director, said: “The ShoreTel UC solution offers Centrax the reliability and flexibility it needs while also being able to integrate with its existing office systems and employees’ smartphones, whether in the UK or abroad.

“We will also carry out an audit of Centrax’s local and wide area network to ensure it is capable of supporting IP telephony so both core businesses enjoy a business quality voice service from day one, and then we will continue to support Centrax’s telephony needs throughout and after the installation process.”
