With energy efficiency a key design criteria across Airedale’s entire range, the British manufacturer also offers a range of refurbishment options to return all leading makes of equipment to peak operational performance.

One such option is to upgrade from AC to EC (electronically commutated) fans, bringing potential energy savings of up to 70%.

Another way to improve efficiency is to optimise building services by implementing Airedale’s ACIS™ Building Management System (BMS). Installed in 780 of Iceland’s UK stores, ACIS™ is expected to bring the frozen food retailer energy savings of around £6.2m pa. ACIS™ optimises a wide range of building services across multiple platforms and protocols, and provides energy analysis, remote monitoring, reporting and diagnostic tools. The software also allows temperature set points to be adjusted, maximising free cooling.

Airedale also offers a refurbishment service allowing data centres and other critical installations to upgrade to the most advanced energy-efficient components and controls software without compromising system performance during refit. The ‘AsNew’ service provides a genuine alternative where business continuity is key and where budgets and logistical considerations such as space and access are a limiting factor, and in an environment where modifying floors and replacing pipework involving hot work are a major concern.

Commissioning and ongoing service and maintenance by professionally trained engineers are also key to maintaining system performance and energy efficiency at the highest levels. With estimates that a 10% loss in refrigerant charge can increase operational costs by up to 20%, the decision to invest in preventative maintenance is easy to justify.

Airedale, who is shortly to celebrate 40 years in the industry, also offers a programme of air conditioning, design engineering and Construction Skills courses including tailor-made training for groups.
