AMP Group, the Cloud Industry Forum’s (CIF) independent certification partner, has announced that Databarracks, a provider of secure Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Backup as a Service (BaaS) and Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS), has successfully re-certified against the CIF Code of Practice (CoP) for Cloud Service Providers.

Established in 2003, Databarracks has grown rapidly to become one of the most technologically advanced innovators in Infrastructure, Backup and Disaster Recovery. It has also been a leading supplier in the Government’s G-Cloud framework with a variety of customers across central and local Government, defence, charity and legal sectors.

Having initially achieved the certification in October 2012, the CSP felt the benefits of the Code of Practice immediately, seeing a distinct increase in the confidence of customers and prospects alike. Peter Groucutt, Managing Director at Databarracks, explained:
“The time and effort spent achieving the certification have been repaid in full. Our primary aim in seeking certification in the first place was to demonstrate that we are a sound business and a reputable service provider. As a result, we have been able to win more new business and speed up our sales process. Choosing a cloud service provider is a serious undertaking and we are often asked to work through due-diligence processes to make sure that we meet customer requirements. The CoP requires us to have that information readily available on our website and in our customer literature, which means that businesses can be sure of the service they will receive. By providing that information freely, end-users are recognising that we are a company that can be trusted to provide an excellent service.

“As a company, we strive to be open and transparent about our services; however, by working through the process we realised we were not as explicit as the Code of Practice required in certain areas. These may have seemed small but they make a big difference for our customers. Our certification, and subsequent re-certification, to the CSP Code of Practice therefore represents our continued commitment to transparency and the delivery of the highest standards of cloud services,” he continued.

Richard Pharro, CEO of APM Group, added: “That such a high percentage of CSPs that have certified against the Code of Practice go on to re-certify is an absolute testament to the benefits that it brings them - and to their customers. By achieving the certification for a second term, Databarracks has demonstrated its long-term commitment to best practice in the cloud and we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate them.”
