As the mobile communications market in Russia is undergoing rapid development, heavy data services, such as online gaming and video streaming, are also seeing strong growth and demand. However, fast MegaFon's mobile service development drives need for permanent improvement of IP core network equipment. Bandwidth capacity improvement ensures future-proof evolution capability and maintaining leading position of MegaFon in Russia.

As the only one 400G core router for commercial use in the industry, Huawei's NE5000E 400G core router features a 400G platform. The platform not only supports flexible capacity configurations by changing subboards to implement networking among 100GE, 40GE, and 10GE, but also has the capability to expand slot capacity to the T level to meet service requirements in future 5 to 10 years from carriers. In addition, power consumption of the 400G platform is within 1 W/G, keeping energy and investment costs low.

Gai Gang, president of Huawei's Carrier IP Product Line explained that "Rapid development of mobile broadband and video services will generate tremendous traffic growth on backbone networks. Now is the 400G era for backbone networks. Huawei has established a good cooperation relationship with MegaFon in the IP core field for a long term. Huawei's IP core equipment has won the recognition of MegaFon based on its stable running capability. Our current cooperation starts the 400G era for European Internet."
