TCO and performance optimisation at South Bank

Romonet has announced a partnership with London South Bank University’s Faculty of Engineering, Science and the Built Environment. Romonet Software Suite will be used to model existing data centres by Degree and Master students in their final year project and to compare the relative merits of cooling technologies used in both existing data centres and future implementations.

Commenting on Romonet’s data centre modelling software, London South Bank University’s Dr Issa Chaer said: “Romonet Software Suite is an easy to use and flexible data centre modelling tool, providing a full set of features that support modelling the design, different cooling technologies under different climate and load conditions. Models can then be uploaded to Romonet’s “Portal” predictive performance monitoring service exposing “expected vs actual” performance as well as showing the costs impact of any variances, this allows operators to maximise their return on investment”
Dr Chaer added “As part of our on-going relationship with Romonet we have undergraduate and Masters level students using Romonet’s modelling software for their major projects and dissertations, including the modelling and life-cycle performance evaluation of existing data centres and advanced new cooling technologies”.

“We are very pleased to be working with one of the leading Universities, well known for producing some of the brightest mechanical engineers in our industry” said Zahl Limbuwala, CEO of Romonet, “We hope that the data centre industry as a whole will benefit from the studies undertaken by London South Bank University; in particular the modelling work around the cooling technologies of today’s facilities and more advanced approaches for the data centre of the future”.

Romonet introduced its award winning Romonet Software in November 2010 with the aim of helping businesses design and run their data centres in a more efficient and cost effective manner. The unique predictive modelling capabilities of the product allow its clients to control costs and increase performance, by improving financial forecasting of data centre equipment, IT platforms & workloads.
