Concurrent Thinking secures £800,000 investment

The cost effectiveness of data centres can now be maximised with the Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) solution developed by Concurrent Thinking Limited.

Concurrent Thinking have secured £800,000 of new funding to drive its “go to market” strategy, undertake future development work and support the growth of the business.


The solution, Concurrent COMMAND, is a suite of intuitive software tools that reduces energy and operational costs in the data centre. It eliminates overheads in power and cooling, improves IT utilisation by server, rack, customer or application and ensures best practice operations.


It monitors all aspects of the data centre, including mechanical, electrical and cooling systems, environmental conditions, power, server health, assets management and even operating systems and application performance.


The investment comes from a new investor, Birmingham City Council via Finance Birmingham and from existing investors, including The ERA Foundation, The Carbon Trust, Midven, Forward Group and Angel Investors. A subsequent funding round of £500,000 will be completed within the next six months.


Concurrent’s CEO Terry Hale explains, “Concurrent COMMAND delivers meaningful business performance and traditional data centre efficiency metrics that equip operators with the analysis needed to make informed decisions to reduce energy bills and increase operational efficiency. The new investment will enable the company to exploit the market potential for its COMMAND DCIM application.”


With the ever increasing reliance on technology, cloud based solutions and the trend towards activities such as gaming, social media and internet shopping, the demands on data centres are rapidly increasing. Operators are facing pressure to reduce operating costs and optimise server activity.


There is also increasing pressure for data centres to show a commitment to green computing. Strategic use of Concurrent COMMAND enables participation in the EU Code of Conduct for Data Centres, which details best practice within the industry for continuous energy efficiency improvements.
