Speaking at the launch reception, Bernard Geoghegan, Managing Director, EMEA & Asia Pacific at Digital Realty, said “Our investment in Dublin’s Profile Park was based on Ireland’s standing as a leading international location for technology and innovation. The facility is designed to offer both local and multinational enterprise clients an excellent range of connectivity options into the wider Digital Realty Ecosystem. It also features an indirect air optimisation system, which improves our clients’ data centre energy efficiency by lowering PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) and therefore their total cost of occupancy.”

During the testing phase at peak load the site achieved a PUE of between 1.15 and 1.18. By comparison, the PUE utilising a traditional chilled water system is approximately 1.6.

The Uptime Institute, the Global Data Centre authority, has certified Digital Profile Park’s design as Tier III compliant. Tier Certification assures prospective clients that all elements of the critical infrastructure of a data center are capable of enterprise-grade performance. The certification illustrates the data centre’s rigorous requirements for high-availability service capabilities. Digital Profile Park is the first and only certified data centre in the Irish market place today.
The new facility has already achieved the BREEAM “excellent” Standard, which recognises best practice in sustainable building design.
