Interoute, owner operator of Europe’s largest cloud services platform, today announced the launch of a new Interoute Virtual Data Centre (VDC) zone in Los Angeles. This is the second U.S. location it has launched this year, following the opening of its New York zone in June. The expansion of Interoute’s low latency, globally distributed cloud meets the needs of American companies looking for a location-sensitive cloud platform to make compliance with European data laws easier. It also supports European businesses looking for a cloud platform that covers both coasts of the U.S.

The new VDC zone in L.A. is the eighth Interoute has launched this year1, making Interoute VDC one of the fastest growing enterprise IaaS cloud computing platforms available. Interoute VDC has a total of 13 locations, covering the U.S., Europe and Asia.

An integrated network and cloud computing platform with global reach, Interoute VDC brings the world closer to its customers. As a company founded and built in Europe, Interoute has an intrinsic understanding of national laws and regulations and removes some of the complexity and risks associated with international growth.
Matthew Finnie Interoute’s CTO commented “Interoute simplifies the complexities of doing business in Europe giving customers the ability to reach over 500 million people whilst adhering to the continent’s different national laws and regulations. Interoute VDC is designed to make doing business across multiple markets easier, with one price and one SLA everywhere. Opening an Interoute Virtual Data Centre in L.A. allows American businesses to expand into European markets through a platform that offers public cloud convenience with private cloud confidence.”

Iftikhar Ahmad Dar, CTO of Wyless an Interoute VDC customer commented "As a US-based company with locations in Europe and Brazil, Wyless places high importance on access to Interoute VDCs both locally and abroad so we can extend our management of large amounts of data in close proximity to our customers and partners. Wyless’s strategy rests on significantly scaling our service management platforms to embrace the rapid growth of the Internet of Things and Machine-to-Machine services worldwide. We chose Interoute VDC as our cloud platform because of its global reach and robust visualized network. We welcome the announcement of a new Interoute VDC zone in L.A."

Interoute VDC’s high level of location density and automation allows customers the ability to restrict their data to a single location or distribute it across multiple locations and markets according to business needs. This unique ability also comes without the cost often associated with moving data, as data transfer is free between Interoute VDC zones across the world.

The power of Interoute VDC is not limited to the enterprise, either. With the Jump StartUp program, startups and developers are offered one year of free location-sensitive access to applications, computing and on-demand storage on-demand with the same platform used by some of the world’s largest cloud providers and mobile network operators. Jump StartUp is a unique solution for startups and developers, allowing them to both compete and scale faster and more effectively.
Tim Armstrong, co-founder, Treestle, commented “As a rapidly growing software development startup based in Europe, we see how data compliance and regulation is very important for many of our customers, so the choice of physical zones offered by Interoute VDC is a big benefit. Interoute launching another new zone in L.A. supports businesses like us, as the Internet is a very global place and our intention is to deliver our products and services to customers everywhere.”
