LeaseWeb accelerates Asian expansion

LeaseWeb, a global Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) hosting brand, has opened a new data center in Hong Kong as part of a drive to accelerate its global footprint. Operated by LeaseWeb Asia Pacific, the new Hong Kong data center follows the opening of a Singapore data center in July this year.

Customers moving to LeaseWeb Asia Pacific’s Hong Kong data center will have access to a comprehensive portfolio of infrastructure solutions that includes bare metal servers, cloud services and the ability to mix and match hybrid environments for enterprises’ most demanding applications and workloads.

“The opening of the Hong Kong data center is in response to strong demand from customers across the Asia-Pacific region,” said Bas Winkel, Managing Director, LeaseWeb Asia Pacific. “This new location strengthens our offering, providing seamless infrastructure solutions on a global basis, giving our customers a solid platform for growth in Asia. Ultimately, it’s about providing more choice in the marketplace, which is good news for customers, especially those who want a global partner that is responsive to their needs.”

The announcement highlights LeaseWeb’s aggressive expansion plans, with Hong Kong being the third new data center presence this year – others being Singapore and San Jose, California – increasing LeaseWeb’s global data center footprint to nine locations.

LeaseWeb Asia Pacific has deployed its Hong Kong data center operations in CloudSpace2 (HKCS2), Pacnet’s newest, Tier III data center in Hong Kong. The two-story facility is located at Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate.

“Our data center operating agreement with Pacnet enables us to quickly expand our data center presence across Asia Pacific,” added Winkel. “Working with Pacnet provides LeaseWeb with the agility to respond to customer demand across the region – with Sydney and Tokyo examples of cities we’re looking at next as part of our expansion plans. Coupled with our own state-of-the-art technology and global network, it provides customers with an easy, reliable and cost-effective way of expanding online services globally.”
