Telstra selects datamena to drive growth in the Middle East

Speaking from CABSAT 2015 in Dubai, the largest trade show in the Middle East (ME) for broadcasting, satellite, and connected media, Peter Hobbs, Telstra’s Head of Global Wholesale, said the new PoP will add more diversified, low-latency options for media and enterprise customers operating across the region.

“We’re seeing significant growth in the ME media industry and recent research1 suggests the accelerated adoption of mobile technology, evolutions in paid and digital media, and a new wave of unique youth-produced content will only accelerate data traffic in the coming years.

“When you combine this with the fact that gaming in the ME is growing faster than the global average – exceeding other fast-growing emerging markets such as Russia, China, and South Korea – there is clearly demand for high-speed, reliable network connectivity in the ME that will also improve routing efficiency into Europe and throughout Asia,” Mr Hobbs said.

datamena enables direct low-latency access to the key markets in the ME, North America and West and Central Asia. Its carrier-neutral model allows customers to meet, interconnect and do business together from a single location in the heart of the ME.

Fahad Al Hassawi, Chief Commercial Officer at du, said the company was committed to making its datamena customers successful in the Middle East.

“We are proud to support Telstra as it grows and develops its business in the Middle East, ensuring they have simple and efficient solutions for local presence, connectivity, peering, and data centre services.

“Our datamena facility is aimed at attracting customers looking to expand their global footprint, and is designed as a growth accelerator for digital businesses in the UAE and the Gulf region. As our ecosystem continues to grow with world-leading partners like Telstra, the whole community of carriers, cloud and application providers and enterprises benefit,” Mr Hassawi concluded.
