Wildscreen is a not-for-profit, award-winning wildlife charity, that works with the very best wildlife and environmental filmmakers and photographers to collect, curate, showcase and share the world’s wildlife imagery. Arkive is the charity’s online initiative, and was launched by David Attenborough in 2003.

VIRTUS is providing a bespoke solution to Wildscreen, migrating its in-house IT facilities into VIRTUS’ data centre. With VIRTUS’ connectivity-on-demand solution, Wildscreen is able to vary its connectivity, bandwidth and transit capacity on short notice, giving Wildscreen the ability to accommodate fluctuations and periods of increased traffic.

Jonathan Bride, Head of Technology, Wildscreen, said: “Wildscreen is a small wildlife conservation charity, totally reliant on its digital outputs. As part of some wider infrastructure changes, we needed a managed colocation solution which combined quality and price. VIRTUS provided us with the ideal answer to both of these. The time taken by VIRTUS to understand and deliver our unique needs was exceptional and we look forward to growing Arkive safe in the knowledge we have the infrastructure we require.”

Darren Watkins, Sales Director, VIRTUS Data Centres, added: “We at VIRTUS are very happy to be contributing to something as worthwhile and valuable as Wildscreen. We worked hard to ensure that Wildscreen was able to get the most effective solution available for their requirements, both now as well as future-proofing the company for further growth, all in a Tier III certified data centre. This deal is another example of the wealth of options we have available to the content and digital media industry.”
