SEGRO plc (SEGRO) has announced that IO, a leading international data centre services company, has moved into a new building on the Slough Trading Estate which has achieved a ‘Very Good’ BREEAM rating.
The Slough Trading Estate offers data centre services companies flexibility, lower latency, increased security and improved efficiency. At 112,000 sq ft, IO’s new data centre is one of the Estate’s largest. IO becomes the latest multinational to join the increasingly international customer-base established on the Estate, which includes Ferrari and NTT Gyron International.
Built in approximately 12 months to a full turnkey fit out, the team involved with IO’s fast-track build sought to identify opportunities early on in the design process to enhance the building’s efficiency. These included energy and water efficiency, waste and pollution minimisation, protection of ecological features, responsibly sourced materials and more.
Gareth Osborn Business Unit Director, Thames Valley & National Logistics, said: “Bringing IO into our portfolio reinforces the Slough Trading Estate's position as a prime location for data centre operators, given its close proximity to London, dual power supply and excellent network connections.
“It also reinforces the Estate as an internationally recognised location for continued inward investment to the region and its attractiveness to international, high value and ‘clean’ industries.”
Nigel Stevens, UK Managing Director, IO, said: “The BREEAM ‘Very Good’ certification illustrates IO’s commitment to providing energy-efficient data centre solutions for enterprises here in London, and throughout the world.
“Not only is the building constructed with sustainability in mind, but our innovative modular data centre offering provides customers with a sustainable colocation solution that benefits their business and their bottom line.”
