As part of the company’s ongoing investment in its five UK data centres, LO5 will accommodate up to 4.8 megawatts of critical capacity across 118,561 square feet of floor space once all four phases are complete.

LO5 is situated along the M4 corridor, which provides excellent transport and networking links. As big data, Internet of things (IoT) and other forces lead massive demand growth for enterprise storage and compute, LO5 plays a key role in CenturyLink’s commitment to serve the growing infrastructure needs of the European market and delivery of world-class managed services on virtual, dedicated and colocation platforms.

Mike Bennett, Vice President of Global Data Centre Acquisition and Expansion at CenturyLink, said: “The data centre is a foundation block for all IT services, whether that be hybrid IT, cloud or legacy infrastructure. We continuously look at ways to improve all elements of our operations to deliver value through constant, tailored service, and take pride in growing and evolving our facilities in line with customer demand.”

“As the data centre industry matures, one thing remains consistent: the need to ensure that the right people with the right skills occupy the mission-critical data centre environments. Doing so ensures customers know that their data is processed with the right levels of confidentiality, integrity and security.

“While the future data centre may see more automation, our customers can feel secure knowing that CenturyLink takes pride in having the best operatives in the industry to manage its mission-critical environments.”

Capacity at LO5 is available for purchase immediately with full installation of the additional space scheduled for completion in September 2015. CenturyLink operates five data centres in the London area and a total of more than 60 around the world.
