Next Generation Data (NGD) has started of a major new data hall construction project at its data centre in south Wales following the awarding of a long-term contract from a leading global company.

The dedicated ?10M self-contained hall, to be delivered before Christmas, will provide the scale and technical infrastructure necessary for supporting the customer’s immediate and longer-term requirements and will be the 19th Data Hall at the facility. In what has already been a record sales year for NGD, this latest contract follows an ?8M expansion phase completed earlier this year for five additional data halls which have now all been sold. These were for accommodating several multinational customers while meeting extra demand for space from local businesses and channel partners.

NGD’s giant data centre campus, located between Newport and Cardiff, was opened six years ago and has already seen the company invest more than ?30M in creating the 750,000 sq ft world-class facility.

“This has been an exceptional year for NGD and 2016 promises to be even better. It seems our proposition, focused on ample space and power, is proving more and more attractive to the global market. NGD’s facility is one of the few with the scale and power available to meet accelerating demand for cloud, web, big data and other data intensive computing activities,” said Simon Taylor, Chairman, Next Generation Data.

While supporting the IT infrastructure and data storage needs of various UK government and multinational IT service provider organisations NGD also serves local businesses in Wales requiring modern and more secure data hosting and storage facilities to help them grow.
