Interoute has launched a new Interoute Virtual Data Centre (VDC) zone in Stockholm, Sweden. This is its 17th VDC zone globally and the third to open in 2016, following the launch of Istanbul and Singapore earlier in the year.

The new Interoute zone in Stockholm meets the growing regional demand for fast local cloud services from enterprises in the Nordics. Interoute has a well-established presence in the Nordics, with around 100 employees across offices in Stockholm and Gothenburg, Copenhagen, Helsinki and Oslo serving the enterprise market.

Interoute VDC is a high performance enterprise cloud platform, built straight into Interoute’s private global network. It can be easily controlled via Interoute’s online interface or API. Customers can place their data in any of the 17 VDC cloud zones worldwide, ensuring complete control of where data and applications are hosted. Plus they can transfer data for free between VDC zones on the Interoute network and Interoute offers free in and out bound data transfer for its zones1. This makes it extremely flexible and cost efficient to build out across multiple Interoute VDC zones and enter new markets around the world.

Bj?rn Nilson, IT Manager at Gunnebo, the worldwide provider of security products, services and solutions and an Interoute VDC customer, commented: “Gunnebo serves the financial services and retail markets, which are among the most highly regulated industries; security breaches and downtime for organisations operating in these industries can be disastrous. We wanted to extend our security services to meet increased demand, but without having to invest in our own physical hardware infrastructure. Interoute VDC is the perfect solution for us, delivering fully automated, on-demand computing with the proven levels of security, reliability and scalability that our customers demand. For our business model, this move has for instance meant we could now use Interoute VDC to provide our customers with a pay-as-you-go model for our solutions for the very first time. We welcome the opening of a new zone in the Nordic region and Interoute’s continued commitment to expanding its innovative VDC platform.”

Andrius Preibys, CTO at MedSciNet a Swedish company designing systems for clinical trials, registers and medical bio-banks, commented: “Our online software-as-a-service allows customers to access their data in real-time, and begin data analysis almost immediately after the last patient has been included. Therefore, control over data and where it is located is critical to us for compliance purposes. The Stockholm Interoute VDC will help us host customer’s data locally to ensure compliance and high performance of our systems.”

Matthew Finnie, Interoute CTO, said: “Cloud is a key driver for digital transformation and digital enterprise growth. Interoute is the first global cloud provider to offer a zone in the Nordic region that offers both public and private cloud on one platform. By opting to provision on the Interoute cloud customers have a foundation to transform their businesses. Gunnebo and MedSciNet are great examples of how powerful this change can be for delivering best-in-class customer services.”
