COMPAREX, a global IT provider specialising in licence management, sourcing, technical product consulting and cloud-based managed services, has named Richard Best as its new UK general manager. The appointment of Richard comes at an exciting time for the business as it further grows its managed services offering.
“We are delighted to have Richard on board, as we continue to transform our business and focus on being a global managed services provider,” said Maarten van Montfoort, vice president of Northwest Europe at COMPAREX. “Richard brings a great wealth of services expertise to the business, which is hugely important as we look to nurture more contractual, rather than transactional, relationships with our clients. We have already successfully launched a number of global managed services and we plan to roll out more as we continue to change the balance of our business.”
Richard has 20 years’ experience working in the software and services industry. Prior to joining COMPAREX, Richard spent nine years at Bytes Software Services where most recently he was services director. During his time at Bytes, Richard built up the company’s cloud and services offerings, focusing on growing managed services revenues, defining cloud strategy and driving sales -at the end of FY14, Bytes was Microsoft’s number one cloud partner by revenue in the UK. Richard also spent six years at Teksys where he was software services director, during which time he launched one of the UK market’s first software asset management (SAM) managed services, and contributed to the first SAM standards (ITIL Best Practice Guidelines and the ISO 19770 standard) in the UK.
“I leave Bytes on good terms, but I am really excited to be joining COMPAREX,” said Richard Best. “From speaking with the senior management team, they have a clear vison of where they want the company to go and I wanted to be a part of it. COMPAREX’s has the global presence, technical skills and expertise to deliver a complete global managed service, and I believe that will be an attractive proposition for many organisations as they continue their cloud journey.”
