Digby Brown selects Cisco to support digital transformation

Simplified, highly secure architecture to help improve customer experience and aid GDPR readiness.

In the UK, our expectations as consumers are increasingly digital and, like many organisations experiencing evolving demands on their business, Scotland’s largest personal injury firm, Digby Brown Solicitors, has chosen Cisco to help it continue the digital transformation of its business to meet the needs of its clients.

In partnership with Provista, Cisco supported an entire revamp of Digby Brown’s infrastructure and applications. Across its seven offices, the transformation spans unified collaboration technologies and telepresence used to interact with clients; Wi-Fi access for employees; right through to switching, routing and a new private cloud infrastructure enabled by Cisco® HyperFlex™ to host the company’s core business processes, client data, online portal and information analytics.

 

Information security has been a driving force for Digby Brown Solicitors throughout its transformation. Following a risk assessment, the company has built on its existing security practice by taking a multi-layered approach with web, email, intrusion detection and prevention security solutions from Cisco deployed at the network perimeter, together with Cisco firewalls.

 

On the importance of security, Agnew added, “Anything connected to the Internet carries a risk, so being able actively to build threat intelligence via Cisco and its ecosystem of cyber security partners has proved to be very beneficial to us, as evidenced by a number of threats detected and managed to date. But what we also recognise within Digby Brown Solicitors is that need to have defence-in-depth and not just depend on one single level of control.”

 

He concluded, “Private cloud means we have a simplified footprint where we can implement the controls we deem necessary to risk-manage security threats. That has proved to be extremely successful in terms of the investments we have undertaken and provides us with an accelerated position towards compliance with external legislation like GDPR.”

 

The company continues to evolve how it manages risk and governs security across its day-to-day operations. It is increasing staff awareness around information security, running phishing campaigns, and focusing not only on technology, but also on people and process to ensure a holistic strategy.
