As the world’s leading steel manufacturing and mining company, ArcelorMittal is undergoing a number of digitalisation and Industry 4.0 efforts to continue its growth and support the wide range of industries – ranging from manufacturing to construction – that rely on its products.

With this in mind, ArcelorMittal identified the need for a robust, reliable and high-performing IT network to make this possible. Extreme Networks and NPS Consult worked with ArcelorMittal to implement an all-new network solution incorporating wired and wireless access for over 1,300 users on 2,500 devices across London, Brussels and Luxembourg.

These three European hubs are central to ArcelorMittal’s European global operations and are all now routed through a single, highly-reliable system providing improved network visibility, security and access to strategic applications. The introduction of the high-speed network is ideally suited to support the company’s digitalisation efforts.

“Whatever the industry, a strong and reliable IT network is an absolute necessity for any company that wants to succeed in this digital era. Working with NPS Consult we’ve been able to provide robust switching solutions, centralised management and security applications that will allow ArcelorMittal’s digitalisation efforts to flourish.” said John Morrison, Vice President EMEA Sales and Services, Extreme Networks.

The new system is based on Extreme Networks’ Smart OmniEdge Solution which uses the power of AI to deliver a consistent, high-quality user experience. The inclusion of Extreme Management Center and new data centre equipment in Luxembourg provides a centralised platform for sites around the world to be managed by a single team, improving overall operational efficiency.

"We are now benefiting from a stable and markedly reinforced IT infrastructure. Network availability and performance are no longer a major business concern. The service is now meeting and exceeding our expectations, our people are no longer regularly raising issues or expressing their dissatisfaction. As a result, we have been able to revise our priorities and reconsider our ambitions. I can fully and confidently think about the next stage of our digitalisation journey,” commented Gilles Hug, Head of Corporate Infrastructure, ArcelorMittal Europe.
