Iceotope, Schneider Electric and Avnet address sustainability priorities at the edge

Iceotope Cooling Technologies, Schneider Electric and Avnet are hosting a new joint webinar entitled, ‘Simplifying the Edge’.

  • Tuesday, 15th September 2020 Posted 4 years ago in by Phil Alsop
Taking place on the 16th September 2020, this one-hour session offers expert insight into key challenges concerning the deployment of new edge technologies to support 5G, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and colocation environments, and the business case for new sustainable approaches to cooling infrastructure.

Led by, David Craig, CEO, Iceotope, Steven Carlini, Vice President of Innovation and Data Center, Schneider Electric and Alp Sezen, Head of Strategy, Avnet Integrated, ‘Simplifying the Edge’ will discuss why security, remote operations and energy efficiency must be addressed in order to ensure maximum uptime from IT at the edge of networks, with minimal impact on the environment. The session will also discuss what skillsets are required to deploy, integrate and manage these new technologies effectively, and why greater standardisation is a crucial component in the quest for sustainability.

“In this session we will be answering two of the big questions associated with edge computing,” said David Craig, CEO, Iceotope Technologies. “Firstly, to avoid the carbon impact associated with the volume of data processing being driven to the edge, how do we ensure edge computing is green from the get-go? Secondly, where do we start to simplify edge deployments in order to truly realise the full potential of 5G, IIoT and other emerging applications?”

Led by experts in liquid cooling technology, data center infrastructure and systems integration, the webinar will address key considerations throughout the IT value-chain, including the challenges emerging from the security of devices outside of traditional data center environments, and the requirement for ease of installation, monitoring and maintenance for distributed IT applications.

The ‘Simplifying the Edge’ agenda will discuss:

· The current state of edge

· Edge, IoT and 5G interdependency

· Implications of Edge on global data centre energy use

· Standardization increases supply-chain economies of scale

· Technology confusion leads to short lifecycles and elevated costs

· Security, maintenance and anonymity

· Remote monitoring, modular solutions and maximised uptime

“As technologies like IIoT and 5G take precedence, greater dependency on IT systems at the edge is inevitable,” said Steven Carlini, Vice President of Innovation and Data Center, Schneider Electric. “The next generation of data centers, from the largest on-premise systems to those at the edge of networks, must adopt more sustainable approaches to design, deployment and operation to minimise the impact of carbon emissions, and support more sustainable business practices.”

Join Iceotope, Schneider Electric and Avnet for an incisive look at the future for a sustainable edge at 3pm BST on the 16th September 2020.
