Colocation operator Stellium Datacenters has unveiled its state-of-the-art hyperscale data centre in North East England as the UK's first Open Compute Project (OCP) Experience Center, spotlighting liquid immersion cooling. This initiative empowers Stellium’s customers and partners, including Submer, ExxonMobil, and others, to explore cutting-edge cooling solutions tailored for hyperscalers and AI developers.

Certified as an OCP-Ready™ data centre in 2023, Stellium integrates Submer's Liquid Immersion Cooling technology as part of the sole OCP Orv3 stack showcase in Europe.

"This latest endorsement by the OCP is a natural progression of our strong relationship," noted Ed Bissell, Sales & Marketing Director at Stellium. He further emphasised the significance of this centre in addressing cooling and energy efficiency challenges in high-density computing environments.

Steve Helvie, VP of Emerging Markets at the OCP, highlighted the centre's capability to simulate real-world scenarios for testing Submer's technology, benefiting both data centre operators and solution providers.

The centre's OCP ORv3 rack setup is tailored for high-performance computing and AI environments. Stellium collaborates with ExxonMobil for their DC 3235 Super fluid, MiTAC for Capri 2 servers, and other key contributors, ensuring top-notch component integration.

Stellium’s North of England location not only provides OCP compliance, but offers the advantages of a cooler climate, a low-carbon footprint, and access to 80 MW of REGO-certified renewable power.

With a facility achieving numerous ISO certifications, Stellium positions itself as a sustainable leader, setting new standards for the future of data centres in the UK.
