BCS Consultancy has announced the launch of its new Sustainability Service, alongside the appointment of James Rogers Jones as Head of Sustainable Development.

The Sustainability Service integrates environmentally conscious practices into BCS’s range of offerings, including project management, cost management, and technical delivery. The initiative responds to growing demand for consultancy that considers environmental factors alongside commercial outcomes.

James Rogers Jones joins BCS with extensive consultancy experience, having worked with organisations such as Digital Realty and Google. His expertise includes strategic and operational sustainability, with a focus on efficiency and value across large-scale portfolios.

Jones highlighted the role of data centres in the modern economy and the importance of considering sustainability beyond ESG metrics, including energy security and operational stability.

The Sustainable Development Service aims to support long-term decision-making, addressing environmental, community, and operational challenges. This approach reflects increasing community expectations that data centre operations provide local benefits in addition to renewable energy initiatives.

BCS’s 2026 Data Centre Trends Report notes rising attention to issues such as water usage and electricity pricing, indicating that data centres are expected to demonstrate value beyond carbon reduction.

The Sustainability Service aligns with BCS’s broader approach of integrating sustainability into operational decision-making.

Chris Coward, Chief Operating Officer, BCS Consultancy, stated: “The launch of our Sustainability Service is about delivering better outcomes and aligns with how our clients expect us to operate. James brings both credibility and clarity of thinking, and his appointment strengthens our ability to support responsible, long-term decision-making across the entire lifecycle.”

The combination of James Rogers Jones’s appointment and the new service launch reinforces BCS’s focus on incorporating sustainable practices into data centre operations, aiming to support clients and communities while promoting long-term operational resilience.
