Cloudera has announced an expansion of their AI and analytics capabilities by integrating Cloudera AI Inference and Cloudera Data Warehouse with Trino into on-premises environments. This update seeks to enable organisations to deploy advanced AI directly within their data centres, providing secure and reliable access to data for AI applications.

As enterprises transition from AI experimentation to full-scale production, emphasis has shifted from mere data storage to providing AI with governed, secure access to data. Cloudera's recent report indicates that nearly half of companies store data in data warehouses. This strategy allows organisations to glean insights without exposing sensitive data beyond protective environments, enhancing security and compliance while optimising operations.

Cloudera AI Inference, now available on-premises and powered by NVIDIA technology, facilitates the deployment of various AI models, including NVIDIA Nemotron models. This development is strengthened by the NVIDIA AI stack, encompassing NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs, Dynamo-Triton Inference Server, and NIM microservices. Cloudera AI Inference offers enterprises a secure, governed AI deployment at scale, bringing cost-efficiency and predictability by mitigating the unpredictable costs associated with cloud use, whilst maintaining control over critical factors like latency and data privacy.

The Cloudera Data Warehouse with Trino initiative provides enhanced security, governance, and visibility within data centres. By integrating AI-powered analytics and visualisation, enterprises can easily transform complex data into actionable insights without sacrificing security or compliance.

Improvements in Cloudera Data Visualisation further streamline AI-driven workflows within data centres and beyond. Intended key upgrades include:

  • AI annotation: Automatic generation of summaries and contextual insights for charts and visuals.
  • Resilient AI features: Enhanced capabilities for handling transient issues and delivering comprehensive usage analytics.
  • AI query logging: Detailed query logs ensure traceability, strengthening transparency and issue resolution.
  • Simplified admin management: Easier role assignment through updated configuration parameters, facilitating user setup.

These advancements, according to Cloudera's Chief Product Officer Leo Brunnick, grant customers control and flexibility, enabling the secure deployment of AI and analytics directly to data centres.

NVIDIA's Pat Lee emphasises the importance of securely deploying AI where data resides, citing their collaboration with Cloudera as significant in extending efficient AI scaling using NVIDIA's latest offerings.
