Biznet has implemented Ciena WaveLogic 5 Extreme technology on its submarine cable system, Biznet Nusantara Cable System-1 (BNCS-1). The upgrade is designed to enable 400G high-speed services, improving internet connectivity across Java, Sumatra, and the Bangka Islands, and supporting broader digitalisation efforts in Indonesia.

Ciena Services, together with partner Terrabit Networks, is leading the design and deployment of Ciena’s 6500 system powered by WaveLogic 5 Extreme technology. This integration is intended to work with Biznet’s existing fibre network infrastructure and provides enhanced network control, planning, automation capabilities, and more efficient operations, including faster service provisioning.

The BNCS-1 submarine network upgrade reflects Indonesia’s role as a regional connectivity hub in Southeast Asia. The deployment of this technology enables higher-capacity, lower-latency internet services, supported by improved spectral efficiency and increased international gateway capacity through the Batam–Singapore link.

This development builds on earlier collaboration between Biznet and Ciena that expanded network capacity across Java, Bali, Sumatra, Batam, Bangka, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Flores. Alongside increasing BNCS-1 capacity, the upgrade also strengthens international connectivity, supporting faster access to global services and more stable network performance for users.

In the context of increasing demand for connectivity, including from AI-driven applications, the ongoing collaboration between Biznet and Ciena is focused on supporting the development and operation of Indonesia’s digital infrastructure to maintain scalable and reliable service delivery.
