The DCA – Data Centre Alliance has joined forces with the international climate consultancy, the Carbon Trust, in a strategic partnership. This collaboration is set to support the sustainable expansion of digital infrastructure, accelerating the data centre sector's transition towards Net Zero.

Combining the DCA’s pivotal role in the data centre ecosystem with the Carbon Trust’s global decarbonisation expertise, the partnership aims to deliver a coordinated and actionable approach to sustainability. This collaboration focuses on energy use and infrastructure development.

As the demand for digital services and AI infrastructure continues to grow, the partnership places a strong emphasis on aligning this growth with credible and measurable sustainability outcomes. Key areas of focus include assisting operators, investors, and the broader supply chain to navigate regulatory pressures, energy constraints, and carbon reduction objectives.

Their collaborative efforts will focus on several key areas:

  • Providing guidance on decarbonisation pathways specific to data centres;
  • Supporting improvements in measurement, reporting, and transparency of emissions and energy use;
  • Fostering collaboration among operators, suppliers, and policymakers;
  • Contributing to the evolution of best practice and standards for sustainable digital infrastructure.

The partnership reflects a shared ambition to transition from broad commitments to practical application, embedding sustainability into the next phase of data centre and AI infrastructure growth.
