Pulsant, a UK data centre and digital infrastructure provider, has completed a £2 million investment programme focused on upgrading its network of sites across the country. The programme, which took place over a two-year period, was aimed at improving the on-site experience for clients, visitors, and staff through refurbishment and modernisation of facilities.
Refurbishment work has been carried out at several locations including Croydon, Edinburgh, Maidenhead, Manchester, Milton Keynes, Newcastle, Reading, and Rotherham. The investment is intended to support organisations using data centre services by maintaining and updating infrastructure and site environments.
The Data Centre Experience programme began at the Croydon site in early 2024. It was developed using feedback from clients through established user groups and focused on aligning facilities more closely with operational requirements. The approach has been associated with demand for more functional and accessible working spaces for IT teams and technicians.
More than 500 UK businesses currently use Pulsant’s colocation services to house their servers and IT infrastructure in its facilities. Some clients and contractors have reported improvements following the upgrades, including changes to site security processes, availability of meeting and breakout rooms, and provision of refreshments.
“Data centres are often designed primarily around the infrastructure, rather than the people who work in them every day,” said Ben Cranham, Chief Operating Officer at Pulsant.
“From the outset, our goal has been to create spaces where everyone – clients, partners, visitors and our team – feels welcome, supported and happy to be there. We’ve listened to the people who spend time in our data centres to shape environments that reflect how they work, now and in the future.
“By paying close attention to details, we’re delivering spaces that not only enhance wellbeing and productivity but also help us stand apart in the market.”
Further work is planned at additional sites, including Birmingham and Fareham, as part of ongoing site upgrades. Key elements of the programme include:
These updates form part of ongoing changes to the sites and are intended to improve operational efficiency, usability, and consistency across the network.
