Assured Data Protection (Assured) has launched 'Assured Backup with BackBox', a service crafted in collaboration with Backbox, a network cyber resilience provider. This new managed service introduces automated backup, version control, and restoration of network and security device configurations.

Traditional enterprise resilience strategies often miss the mark in safeguarding configuration settings for network and security infrastructure like firewalls, switches, and routers. Aiming to address this gap, the service supports over 5,000 device types, securing configuration files in an encrypted off-site repository. Customers seek to promptly restore a device to its optimal settings following any cyber incursion, outage, or hardware malfunction.

Sharing insights, Tony Giannini, Vice President of Global Innovation at Assured Data Protection, explained, "Replacing a switch, firewall, or router can take two to eight hours per device, and even longer during a crisis. With this service, we can restore exact configurations almost instantly. For customers with dozens or hundreds of devices, the time and cost savings are enormous." The capability to revert devices to their best-known states presents immense advantages in both time and cost efficiency for enterprises worldwide.

Network and security devices are key to an organisation’s digital ecosystem. However, their configurations often rely on manual storage, increasing vulnerability during cyber threats or operational disruptions, leading to prolonged downtimes and exorbitant recovery costs.

Assured Backup with BackBox directly aims to tackle these issues by:

  • Providing automated protection for over 5,000 network and security device types
  • Encrypting and securely storing configuration versions remotely
  • Implementing version control to capture every configuration change
  • Enabling rapid device restoration, thus reducing recovery times
  • Delivering cost-effective solutions by eliminating the need for third-party rebuilds

Rekha Shenoy, CEO of BackBox, commented on the collaboration, noting the significance of offering organisations a simplified and economical approach to safeguarding network infrastructures.

The partnership combines BackBox’s cyber resilience capabilities with Assured Data Protection’s managed service expertise to support operational resilience for enterprise networks.
