Drata has announced AI Agent Governance, marking a new development in enterprise security. Positioned within what it describes as Agentic Trust Management, the company is responding to the growing use of AI agents in business operations.

The launch reflects Drata’s ongoing development of its platform, which is used by over 8,500 organisations globally. The updated focus is intended to help organisations manage and control AI agents operating within enterprise environments.

According to reported figures, 57% of business leaders identify governance friction as a key barrier to expanding AI adoption. Drata’s platform, which monitors over 2.1 million security queries, has also recorded a 30% increase in AI-related inquiries, suggesting rising demand for governance solutions in this area.

Key questions raised in this context include:

  • Which AI agents operate within a network?
  • What permissions and capabilities do they have?
  • Who is responsible for managing or operating them?
  • Do they behave as expected?
  • Can the information about them be verified?

It is also reported that 89% of enterprises find it difficult to fully address these questions, creating challenges for security and business teams. Drata’s update is designed to help organisations gain visibility into AI agents, manage access, monitor activity, and validate operational behaviour.

The capabilities described include detection of AI agents through inline sensors, identification of previously untracked AI activity, real-time policy monitoring, and intervention when deviations occur. The system also produces an auditable record intended to support enterprise compliance requirements.

Overall, AI Agent Governance is presented as a framework for organisations managing increasing AI usage, with a focus on improving oversight and accountability for AI agents within enterprise systems.
