Celebrating its 27 years of industry experience and Dutch roots and headquarters, Leaseweb is proud to play a significant role in the largest European cloud infrastructure project to date. Under IPCEI CIS, 100 European companies from 12 member states, will create a common cloud and edge infrastructure for Europe. The European Cloud Campus initiative marks a substantial leap forward in Leaseweb’s journey to develop a true European Sovereign Cloud. It will provide companies with the opportunity to leverage this technology to create innovative applications, prioritizing data residency and easier compliance with European regulations.

The European Cloud Campus fits in very well with Leaseweb’s existing developments. It aims to deliver services that are highly scalable, energy-efficient, automated, vertically integrated, and able to provide efficient multitenancy. This will create a thriving ecosystem for tech development in Europe. It also holds promise for positive economic and societal impact in Europe. Through collaborations with NGOs, training programs for new Cloud experts, and partnerships with universities, this initiative aims to create job opportunities and invest in the development of skilled professionals, stimulating innovation and entrepreneurship.

"Leading the way in building a European Cloud through the European Cloud Campus initiative is a big deal for us," says Robert van der Meulen, Director of Product Strategy at Leaseweb. "It shows our dedication to innovation and our commitment to working with partners and open-source projects. With this infrastructure, companies can develop AI and Cloud applications right here in Europe, meeting regulations and driving innovation. It's a milestone for us and an exciting opportunity for growth and change in the cloud infrastructure world. We can't wait to see how it unfolds."
