Centreon unveils monitoring agent

Centreon recently launched its open-source, multiplatform Monitoring Agent, advancing digital performance monitoring and client transformation.

Centreon, a recognized leader in digital performance monitoring, announced the general availability of the Centreon Monitoring Agent, a revolutionary open-source and multiplatform solution that simplifies platform administration.

Designed with a dedicated user interface, the agent supports passive monitoring and is optimized for modern, hybrid, and ephemeral infrastructures.

In modern environments — characterized by containers, native clouds, short lifecycles, and incredibly scalable services — infrastructures operate at an increasingly rapid pace. To ensure optimal visibility, these environments demand a high level of flexibility, automation, and frequent data collection.

As Raphaël Chauvel, Chief Product Officer at Centreon, notes, monitoring agents are crucial for frequent data collection, guaranteeing scalability and high-performance monitoring.

This innovative monitoring agent integrates seamlessly into clients' ongoing digital transformations. Installed directly on components, it complements existing active monitoring approaches by providing passive monitoring. This results in more flexible, rapid deployment.

The agent stands out for its secure and straightforward configuration across platforms, unified administration on Linux and Windows, and support for Cloud or DMZ architectures. The primary advantage is its ability to automate the monitoring of new components and handle ephemeral infrastructures.

Going beyond traditional metrics, the Centreon Monitoring Agent aligns with the OpenTelemetry framework. It unifies the collection of logs, traces, and events, improving observability and understanding of application behavior. Thanks to the OTLP protocol, native interoperability with other systems is guaranteed.

The development of this agent was heavily informed by feedback from The Watch community members and ongoing user interactions. Their enthusiasm and suggestions were pivotal in refining the solution.

"The collaboration within the Centreon community was essential in shaping the final product," Raphaël Chauvel reflects, highlighting the contributions from Centreon Connect events and beta program participants.

The Centreon Monitoring Agent, independent of Centreon versioning, will be released in July 2025, accessible to all users, irrespective of edition or deployment mode.
