Understanding SaaS data recovery: Insights from Keepit

Explore key findings from Keepit’s Data Report 2026, highlighting trends in SaaS data backup and recovery strategies.

Keepit, a vendor-independent cloud company focused on SaaS data backup and recovery, has announced an upcoming webinar titled “The Reality of SaaS Data Protection: Insights from the Keepit Annual Data Report 2026.” The session will present findings derived from operational backup and restore data, offering an overview of how organisations manage SaaS data restoration.

Published in March 2026, the Keepit Annual Data Report examines anonymised behavioural data from the company’s production environment. It covers thousands of SaaS customers globally and provides insight into how these organisations use their backup systems.

Key findings from the report include:

  • Recovery readiness is increasing but varies. Around 90% of enterprise and commercial organisations show maturity indicators considered sufficient for handling larger-scale recovery operations.
  • Identity recovery is less frequently tested. Recovery of identity applications is tested less often than recovery of productivity applications.
  • Small, frequent restores are most common. Approximately 90% of restore requests involve single-file recoveries, indicating a consistent need for granular restoration.
  • Backup growth is relatively stable. A daily change rate of around 2%, combined with incremental backups, results in controlled data growth compared with potential larger-scale increases.

The webinar will include contributions from Keepit CTO Jakob Østergaard and Microsoft MVP and Keepit Senior Director of Product Paul Robichaux. The discussion will focus on the implications of the report’s findings, including challenges and approaches in SaaS data protection.

Topics expected to be covered include:

  • Differences between organisational backup priorities and actual recovery usage patterns
  • The role of recovery data as an operational signal beyond auditing purposes
  • Additional patterns observed in everyday data loss and recovery behaviour

The session is intended to present the report’s findings and support discussion on SaaS data recovery practices and decision-making in this area.
