Acumen Cyber, an engineer-powered cyber security service provider, has celebrated its first anniversary as an independent MSSP, a year defined by growth, innovation and record threat detection and response.

The event was marked with the official opening of Acumen’s new headquarters at EastWorks, Glasgow, which now hosts the most cutting-edge Security Operations Centre (SOC) to reside on Scottish soil.

Joining in the celebrations, Scotland’s MSP for Business, Richard Lochhead, attended the opening giving a speech on the important role Acumen plays in strengthening cyber security across Scotland.

“With around half of all UK businesses and a third of charities reporting some form of cyber breach or attack last year, cyber crime is a growing and evolving threat to our economy and national security. It’s essential that organisations have the right support and expertise to deal with these threats. Acumen Cyber is a great example of a Scottish business - not only responding to the serious issue of cyber security but also developing innovation that will contribute to the creation of jobs and deliver benefits across the local economy. I wish it every success and look forward to see it growing and developing further from its new EastWorks base," said Scottish Minister for Business, Richard Lochhead.

Acumen Cyber protects modern businesses from the complexities of cyber threats 24/7. Throughout the last year, Acumen has experienced unparallelled growth and success, with its SOC achieving CREST accreditation, its headcount surging by 60%, its onboarding of over 18 new clients and its expansion across the UK and Ireland.

These record achievements set the stage for continued success in 2025, with Acumen already forecasting over 100% growth, which will support its ambitious plans to grow its team and become one of the most well respected and forward-thinking providers of managed cyber security services in the industry.

From its inception, Acumen set out to redefine how a SOC should function, prioritising speed, efficiency and collaboration. Its state-of-the-art SOC is built to deliver enterprise-grade protection through a unique combination of outstanding cyber defence engineers, market-leading security tooling, its own proprietary technology and world-leading threat intelligence and automation. Unlike traditional security providers, Acumen doesn’t just monitor threats - it actively prevents, detects and responds to them in real-time. This has allowed Acumen’s security engineers to analyse over 10 billion events in the last year, stopping over 500 potential threats in their tracks, with an average response time of 28.56 minutes, which is far ahead of the industry average of 162 hours.

“It’s unbelievable what our team has achieved in the last year. We have soared from startup to scaleup, growing our team, our customer base, revenues and partners. With our move to EastWorks and the opening of our cutting-edge new SOC, we are entering into 2025 poised to surpass yet more of our targets, expanding our capabilities, growing our engineering team, strengthening partnerships, and continuing to deliver industry-leading security outcomes for organisations,” said Mark Robertson, CEO of Acumen Cyber.

Acumen’s suite of 24/7 services include fully Managed Threat Detection and Response across an organisation’s entire estate, threat intelligence, incident response plus virtual CISO and advisory services.

The suite of services is delivered via Acumen’s proprietary security platform, which is engineered to tackle complexity, giving customers full visibility into all assets under management, real-time incident tracking and comprehensive SLO reporting.

The platform is managed by Acumen’s team of security engineers and powered by its carefully selected, market-leading security partners, which include Elastic, Recorded Future, AWS, SentinelOne, Fortinet, CrowdStrike. This ensures Acumen clients benefit from the latest innovations and advancements in cyber security technology and defence, but under the expert management of Acumen’s team of world-class security engineers.
