LevelBlue, renowned for its managed security services and strategic consulting, has introduced its new Managed Web Application and API Protection (WAAP) security service. Engineered to provide continuous protection, this service aims to reduce both risk and operational overheads in web application and API security. LevelBlue's WAAP leverages Akamai's App & API Protector technology, integrating advanced web application firewall (WAF), DDoS mitigation, bot protection, and foundational API security, complemented by LevelBlue’s skilled WAAP Operations team.

The fast-paced digital transformation landscape has seen organisations globally expand their use of applications and APIs. Enterprise Strategy Group foresees a rise in web applications from an average of 145 to over 200 per organisation within two years. In tandem, those with more than half their applications employing APIs will leap from 32% to 80%. Some of the main challenges being faced by security teams are

  • Discovering application and API deployments
  • Scaling appropriate protections
  • Quickly identifying and mitigating attacks
  • Ensuring seamless security without performance impact

The increasing complexity of IT environments and expertise shortages lead many midmarket entities to report challenges in securing digital infrastructures, sparking a demand for external support.

LevelBlue’s WAAP directly meets these challenges, offering:

  • 24/7 WAAP Expertise: A dedicated team provides round-the-clock support and monitoring.
  • Asset Discovery and Security: Automatically identify and safeguard critical web apps and APIs, prioritising those handling sensitive data.
  • AI-Powered Threat Defense: Leverage AI and global threat intelligence to detect and counteract new threats efficiently.
  • Streamlined Security Management: Expert-led automation reduces false positives and aligns with modern DevOps processes.

Available in Essential and Advanced tiers, LevelBlue’s Managed WAAP allows flexibility tailored to organisational requirements, promoting robust cyber resilience and secure digital capability growth.

“In 2024 alone, Akamai saw over 311 billion web app attacks. As AI accelerates, threats are harder to spot, and security is tougher to control.
