Nu Quantum welcomes Dr. Maria Maragkou as VP of Business Development

Dr. Maria Maragkou joins Nu Quantum to lead business development and enhance partnerships, leveraging her blend of scientific and commercial expertise.

Nu Quantum, a company in the field of quantum networking, has announced the appointment of Dr. Maria Maragkou as Vice President of Business Development. Based in Cambridge, Nu Quantum develops the 'Entanglement Fabric' approach, a modular networking layer designed to interconnect quantum processors and support distributed quantum computing.

Dr. Maragkou combines scientific expertise and commercial experience. She completed her PhD in quantum optics at the University of Southampton, followed by postdoctoral work at the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid and the École Normale Supérieure in Paris, where she specialised in single photon sources, received the Marie Curie Fellowship, and conducted collaborative research in the field.

Her career includes serving as Senior Editor for Nature Photonics and Nature Materials, publications focused on scientific research. In these roles, she communicated complex technical information to a range of audiences. She also completed an Executive MBA in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from Kedge Business School, adding formal business training to her scientific background.

Prior to joining Nu Quantum, Dr. Maragkou worked at Riverlane, a company focused on quantum error correction, as VP Commercial. She led the Product and Business Development teams, established global partnerships, and contributed to the closure of a Series C funding round.

In her new position at Nu Quantum, Dr. Maragkou will oversee business development strategy, expand the partner ecosystem, and support the company’s objectives in developing fault-tolerant distributed quantum computing.

Nu Quantum’s work focuses on building a distributed quantum computing network through its 'Entanglement Fabric', aiming to advance scalable, fault-tolerant quantum computing. The company continues to engage with partners and leverage its research to develop its technology further.
