Deutsche Telekom Security strengthens cybersecurity with Akamai partnership

Deutsche Telekom Security leverages Akamai's Security Certified Service Provider initiative to enhance cybersecurity solutions across key sectors.

Akamai Technologies has joined forces with Deutsche Telekom Security, a member of its Partner Connect program, to enhance cybersecurity solutions in industries notably exposed to cyber threats. This collaboration leverages Akamai’s Security Certified Service Provider initiative, enabling Deutsche Telekom Security to provide cybersecurity services to sectors like finance, insurance, critical infrastructure, and the public sector.

Using Akamai’s security capabilities, Deutsche Telekom Security now offers services including proactive Day-2 operations for continuous, end-to-end management throughout the API security lifecycle. Their services aim to encompass full operational management, hybrid deployments, detailed business reviews, and stringent API audits ensuring compliance and incident management.

In addition to these, specialisation extends to Akamai Guardicore Segmentation environments, aiming to enrich the offering with segmentation administration and conducting comprehensive security incident management. These services aim to be versatile, capable of operating within a sovereign cloud environment, enhancing both locality and security.

The enhancements to Akamai’s service provider programs aim to address the growing need for stronger API security solutions. Industries facing cyber threats are increasingly adopting microsegmentation strategies, following a report by Akamai State of the Internet that recorded 150 billion API attacks between January 2023 and December 2024. These attacks pose potential financial losses and reputational damage, underscoring the urgency of cybersecurity measures.

Financial institutions, in particular, work with Deutsche Telekom Security for cybersecurity support. Their expertise extends to regulatory compliance and managing security risks effectively. This knowledge base aims to equip financial institutions with the tools to protect sensitive data and maintain operational continuity. Deutsche Telekom’s collaboration with a state bank in Germany exemplifies this, deploying Akamai’s software-defined segmentation to safeguard infrastructure while ensuring regulatory compliance.

With a dedicated team and 24/7 monitoring, Deutsche Telekom Security supports financial institutions in meeting security standards, allowing them to focus on core operational goals amid a complex cybersecurity landscape.
