Westcon-Comstor and Stratus to deliver intelligent edge computing growth

EMEA-based channel partners and end-users gain access to highly reliable, secure and scalable compute for exponentially growing IoT workloads.

Westcon-Comstor has further strengthened its vendor portfolio with the addition of Stratus Technologies Inc, an SGH company and a global leader in simple, protected and autonomous computing platforms.

Under the agreement, Westcon will distribute Stratus solutions, including Stratus ztC Endurance and Stratus ztC Edge, and related services to channel partners across the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.

Stratus provides high-availability, fault-tolerant computing to Fortune 500 companies and small-to-medium sized businesses, enabling them to run mission-critical applications securely and remotely, without downtime at the data centre and edge, and turn that data into actionable intelligence.

The distribution agreement with Westcon will drive adoption of the Stratus portfolio by end-user businesses while creating growth opportunities for channel partners including technology resellers, systems integrators and service providers.

It forms part of the distributor’s new dedicated IoT (Internet of Things) division, which is focused on unlocking the potential of IoT and the intelligent edge for partners by enabling them to deliver innovative, scalable and secure IoT applications to their customers.

From security and analytics to edge computing and connectivity, Westcon is empowering partners to drive recurring revenue streams around the critical technologies of the IoT ecosystem by leveraging the portfolio of its existing vendors as well as newly onboarded vendors like Stratus.

The launch of a dedicated division brings together Westcon’s existing IoT capabilities, including relationships with multiple vendors that are active in the space, under one roof in a formal go-to-market offering. It comes at a time of rapid growth for the IoT market, with IoT ecosystem investments expected by analyst IDC to surpass $1tn in 2026, with CAGR of 10.4% over the 2023-2027 forecast period.

“This exciting new partnership with Stratus is the perfect way to mark the arrival of our new, solution-focused IoT division,” said Antony Byford, Vice President of IoT & Collaboration at Westcon-Comstor. “The rise of IoT, smart devices, and the need for real-time data processing are propelling the growth of the edge computing market. Stratus is an edge player that ensures the continuous availability of business-critical applications by delivering zero-touch computing platforms with an unmatched availability of up to 99.99999%. Its position in the IoT ecosystem, coupled with its relationship with other Westcon vendors that are active in the IoT space, such as Palo Alo Networks, Nokia, Claroty and F5, makes it the ideal launch partner for us.”

“Westcon-Comstor’s IoT team is actively addressing the critical need for reliable and manageable IoT solutions as customers focus on becoming digital first and digital native businesses,” said Greg Hookings, EMEA Managing Director, Stratus. “Partners and customers across a wide range of industries have deployed Stratus high availability and fault tolerant platforms to optimise performance and protect critical workloads. With Westcon and its partners, we are reducing the complexity and risk of deploying compute infrastructure that rapidly modernises operations and readies environments for advanced software, analytics and AI.”
